Videoconferencia con la escuela Sp46 para dar la bienvenida a la primavera

El pasado martes 8 de abril nos volvimos a reunir con nuestros amigos polacos de la escuela Sp46 de Czestochowa a través de videoconferencia. En esta ocasión queríamos dar la bienvenida a la primavera, contando cómo estábamos trabajando este evento en ambos colegios.

Los alumnos de la escuela Sp46 cantaron y bailaron canciones que habían preparado para la ocasión, y también nos contaron sobre las celebraciones que habían realizado durante los primeros días de mayo como homenaje a su bandera y a su primera constitución, aprobada en 1791 y también considerada la primera en Europa.

Nuestros alumnos les mostraron los trabajos que habían realizado con lana con motivo de la llegada de la primavera, y también les explicaron la labor social llevada a cabo por la Asociación "La Iaia", con la que estamos colaborando mediante la donación de todos los ovillos no utilizados. Finalmente, también les hablamos de nuestra colaboración con "Save the Children" a través de la participación en una carrera solidaria para reunir fondos y ayudar a mitigar los efectos del hambre en Sudán del Sur.

Nos lo pasamos genial compartiendo este momento, ¡esperamos que podamos compartir muchos más en el futuro!


Last Tuesday we met again in a videoconference with our Polish friends from the Sp46 school in Czestochowa. On this occasion we wanted to welcome spring, telling how we were working this event in both schools.

The students of the Sp46 school sang and danced songs they had prepared for the occasion, and they also told us about the celebrations they had made during the first days of May as a tribute to their flag and its first constitution, approved in 1791 and also considered the first in Europe.

Our students showed them the work they had done with wool for the arrival of spring, and they also explained the social work carried out by the Association "Ia Iaia", with which we are collaborating by donating all the balls not used. Finally, we also told them about our collaboration with "Save the Children", participating in a charity race to raise funds and help mitigate the effects of hunger in South Sudan.

We had a great time, we hope we can share many more moments in the future!

New year present from Poland!

Tras la vuelta de vacaciones nos hemos encontrado con una grata sorpresa. Nuestros amigos del colegio Sp 46 de Czestochowa (Polonia) nos han enviado varias cajas con galletitas de jengibre para felicitarnos el año nuevo y compartir con todos los alumnos de nuestro cole. ¡Muchísimas gracias, nos ha hecho muchísima ilusión! Seguiremos en contacto, ojalá podamos embarcarnos en un nuevo proyecto juntos...

After Christmas holidays we have met with a pleasant surprise. Our friends from the Sp 46 school in Czestochowa (Poland) have sent us several boxes of gingerbread cookies to congratulate us on the new year and share with all the students of our school. Thank you very much, it has made us very happy! We will keep in touch, I wish we could  start a new project together soon...

Skype con nuestros amigos del colegio Sp 46 de Polonia

El pasado martes volvimos a encontrarnos con nuestros amigos de la escuela Sp 46 de Czestochowa (Polonia). Algunos de nuestros alumnos se conectaron con los alumnos polacos en una videoconferencia, en la que compartieron cómo celebraron Halloween la semana pasada. Cantamos y bailamos las canciones de Halloween y hablamos sobre las celebraciones de Halloween en España y Polonia. ¡Nos lo pasamos genial! ¡Hasta la próxima!

Last Tuesday we met again with our friends from the Sp 46 school in Czestochowa (Poland). Some of our students contacted the Polish students in a video conference, in which they shared how they celebrated Halloween last week. We sang and danced the Halloween songs and talked about the Halloween celebrations in Spain and Poland. We had a great time! Until next time!

VISITA DE LOS PROFESORES DE LA ESCUELA SP 46 (CZESTOCHOWA) A NUESTRO CENTRO – ABRIL 2017

El 24 de abril de 2017 fue el primer día de la visita que nos hicieron cinco de los profesores de la escuela Sp 46 de Czestochowa, en Polonia, a la que previamente habían ido Sonia y Álex en octubre del año pasado. El director Jannusz y otras cuatro profesoras, Renata, Beata, Jystine y Agata, vinieron a nuestro colegio, el CEIP Carmen Conde de Leganés, para ver cómo trabajábamos en las aulas, cómo funcionaba nuestro proyecto bilingüe y el resto de proyectos que llevamos a cabo, y para conocer más sobre nuestra cultura.

En su primer día queríamos recibirlos con mucho cariño, para que junto a nosotros se sintiesen como en casa durante los cinco días que iban a pasar en Leganés. De esta forma, les recibimos todos los profesores y alumnos del cole, saludándoles con las poquitas palabras en polaco que conocíamos, y los alumnos de 3º realizaron un baile polaco de la región de Cracovia en su honor. Además, tuvimos la gran suerte y privilegio de contar con Ilona, abuela de una alumna de 6º del año pasado, la cual se había criado en Polonia y nos facilitó enormemente la comunicación con nuestros invitados. ¡Muchas gracias por todo, Ilona!

Ese mismo día por la tarde también celebrábamos el día del libro, y pudimos enseñarles a nuestros invitados los libros y cuentos que habíamos leído sobre distintos lugares del mundo. Al día siguiente realizaron una pequeña visita por Leganés, y también fueron recibidos en el ayuntamiento por nuestro alcalde Santiago Llorente. El miércoles se fueron de excursión a Toledo con los alumnos de 5º curso, donde pudieron disfrutar de la preciosa ciudad medieval. El resto del tiempo se pasaron por las distintas aulas de Primaria e Infantil para que viesen cómo trabajábamos en las distintas áreas. 

Finalmente, no podemos olvidar todas las actividades que hicimos al terminar las clases. Tenemos que agradecer la colaboración de algunas familias del colegio, que tras la visita a Toledo recibieron a nuestros amigos polacos con un ágape de categoría, ¡estaba todo riquísimo! Además de enseñarles un poco nuestra ciudad, Leganés, el miércoles aprovechamos el importantísimo partido que jugaba nuestro equipo y Jannusz se fue con nosotros a Butarque. ¡Parece que nos trajo suerte, y hoy podemos decir que el Lega es de primera! Y no solo eso, porque también estuvimos visitando Madrid: la plaza del Sol y la plaza Mayor, el palacio Real, el templo de Debod y plaza de España, el Museo del Prado… ¡No paramos! La verdad, fue una experiencia increíble, y al despedirnos teníamos claro que no íbamos a decir adiós, sino hasta luego. No nos cabe duda de que seguiremos en contacto, para que todos (profesores, padres y alumnos) podamos seguir compartiendo y enriqueciéndonos de este intercambio de culturas.

On April 24 2017, it was the first day of the visit of five teachers from the Sp 46 school in Czestochowa (Poland), which Sonia and Alex had previously attended in October last year. The head teacher Jannusz and four other teachers, Renata, Beata, Jystine and Agata, came to our school, the CEIP Carmen Conde (Leganés), to see how we work in the different classes, how our bilingual project and the rest of projects we carry out work, and to know more about our culture.

On their first day we wanted to receive them with much affection, so they would feel at home during the five days that they were going to stay in Leganés. In this way, all the teachers and students of the school received them, greeting them with the few words in Polish that we knew, and the students of 3rd grade performed a Polish dance of the region of Krakow in their honor. In addition, we had the great luck and privilege of having Ilona, the grandmother of a 6th grader from last year, who had grown up in Poland and greatly facilitated our communication with our guests. Thank you very much for everything, Ilona!

That same day in the afternoon we also celebrated the book day, and we showed our guests the books and stories we had read about different places in the world. The next day they were visiting Leganés, and they were also received in the town hall by our mayor Santiago Llorente. On Wednesday they went on a trip to Toledo with the students of 5th grade, where they could enjoy the beautiful medieval city. The rest of the time they went through the different classrooms of Primary and Infant Education so that they could see how we worked in the different areas. 

Finally, we cannot forget all the activities we did after school. We sincerely thank the collaboration of some school families, who received our Polish friends with an outstanding cocktail after the visit to Toledo, it was all delicious! On Wednesday there also was a very important match for our football team, and Jannusz went with us to Butarque. It seems that he brought us luck, and today we can say that "Lega" is still in first division! And not only that, because we were also visiting Madrid: Plaza del Sol, Plaza Mayor, the Royal Palace, the Temple of Debod and Plaza de España, the Prado Museum... We didn't stop! To say the truth, it was an incredible experience, and in the farewell we were sure that we weren't going to say goodbye, we'd better say see you soon. We have no doubt that we will keep in contact, so that all (teachers, parents and students) will be able to continue sharing and enriching us from this exchange of cultures.

Christmas presents from Poland

Antes de Navidad pensamos que sería una buena idea contactar con nuestros amigos del colegio Sp46 de Czestochowa para compartir nuestras tradicciones. Por ello, nos citamos a través de una videoconferencia en la que ellos nos cantaron un villancico tradicional polaco y algunos de nuestros alumnos de Infantil y 1º, 2º y 3º de Primaria les correspondimos cantando Arre borriquito. Después, los alumnos de 4º, 5º y 6º de los dos colegios hablaron sobre las tradiciones que se llevan a cabo en nuestros respectivos países para celebrar la Navidad.

Before Christmas we thought it would be a good idea to contact our friends from Sp46 school in Czestochowa to share our traditions. Therefore, we met in a videoconference in which they sang us a traditional Polish carol and some of our students of Infant and 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades of Primary correspond them singing Arre borriquito. Afterwards, the 4th, 5th and 6th graders of the two schools talked about the traditions that take place in our respective countries to celebrate Christmas.

Los alumnos del colegio Sp46 de Czestochowa (Polonia) nos han enviado unas felicitaciones navideñas que hemos colocado con mucha ilusión en el hall del colegio. ¡Esperemos que ellos reciban también las felicitaciones navideñas que les hemos enviado con cariño para ellos!

The students of the school Sp46 of Czestochowa (Poland) have sent us some Christmas greetings that we have placed with great enthusiasm in the hall of the school. Hopefully they will also receive the Christmas greetings that we have sent with affection for them!

Séptimo día en Polonia: Auschwitz y Cracovia - Seventh day in Poland: Auschwitz and Krakow. 22/10/2016

Finalmente llegó el día de partir. Teníamos sentimientos encontrados, por una parte no queríamos irnos de Polonia donde nos habían tratado tan bien; pero por otra estábamos deseando volver a España para poder contaros todas nuestras experiencias.

Finally it came the day of departure. We had mixed feelings, on the one hand we did not want to leave Poland where we were treated so well; but on the other we were looking forward to come back to Spain to tell you all our experiences.

No obstante, no podíamos abandonar Polonia sin antes visitar Auschwitz, especialmente sabiendo que estaba bastante cerca desde Czestochowa. Por ello, aprovechamos que el avión salía tarde para pasar la mañana en Auschwitz. Recorriendo sus calles y barracones nos pudimos adentrar en una parte de la historia que nunca debería haber ocurrido. No obstante, es importante guardar memoria de lo allí ocurrido, ya que "aquellos que no recuerdan el pasado están condenados a repetirlo" (George Santayana).

However, we could not leave Poland without visiting Auschwitz, especially knowing that it was pretty close from Czestochowa. Therefore, since our flight took off late in the evening, we could spend the morning at Auschwitz. Walking along the streets and barracks we were immersed into a part of the history that should never have happened. However, it is important to keep memory of what happened there, because "those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it" (George Santayana).

Tras una larga visita ya llegó el momento de volver a Cracovia, con el tiempo justo para realizar las últimas compras y salir corriendo para el aeropuerto. Nos vamos con la grata sensación de haber forjado grandes amistades, y con el deseo y la emoción de poderos transmitir fielmente todo lo que aquí hemos aprendido.

After a long visit it was time to return to Krakow, just in time for last minute shopping and run to the airport. We leave with the pleasant feeling of having forged great friendships, and the desire and excitement of faithfully transmitting everything we have learned here.

A nuestros amigos de la escuela Sp 46, no tenemos palabras para daros las gracias, por lo que mejor diremos 'hasta luego', deseando que podáis experimentar aquí las mismas emociones que nosotros hemos vivido en vuestra tierra.

Sexto día en Polonia - Sixth day in Poland. 21/10/2016

Hoy fue nuestro último día en el colegio Sp 46 de Czestochowa. Llegamos pronto por la mañana, y todos los alumnos, profesores, algunos padres y otros trabajadores del cole estaban esperándonos en el gimnasio para celebrar nuestra fiesta de despedida. Nos prepararon una presentación con algunas fotos de nuestra semana en Polonia, y después algunos alumnos nos dedicaron unos bailes y canciones. ¿Os acordáis de la canción que bailamos en el lipdub, Uptown Funk? También la bailaron, además de Sofía de Álvaro Soler que, por cierto, les encanta. También cantaron canciones preciosas, ¡se nos ponían los pelos de punta de la emoción! Después nos dieron un montón de regalos para el cole, ¡ya veréis! Y finalmente nos hicimos una foto todos juntos, antes de darnos un sinfín de abrazos y besos y bailar todos juntos. Fue todo súper emocionante, no pudimos evitar derramar alguna lágrima... o más de una.

Today was our last day at school Sp 46 of Czestochowa. We arrived early in the morning, and all students, teachers, some parents and other school workers were waiting at the gym to celebrate our farewell party. They prepared a presentation with some pictures of our week in Poland, and then we enjoyed some dances and songs interpreted by the students. Do you remember the song we danced in the lipdub, Uptown Funk? They danced it, in addition to Sofia by Álvaro Soler, who they really love. They also sang beautiful songs, We were really thrilled! After, we got a lot of gifts for our school, you'll see! And finally we took a picture together, before endless hugs and kisses and dancing together. It was all super exciting, we could not help to shed a tear ... or more than one.

  

  

Justo después fuimos a la clase de 2º y atendimos a una clase sobre el buen comportamiento y la educación vial. En este momento ya estábamos preparando la conexión por videoconferencia entre los dos colegios, Sp 46 y CEIP Carmen Conde. Tuvimos unos pequeños problemas técnicos, pero finalmente pudimos contactar con Mari Jose que enseñó a nuestros amigos polacos un poco de nuestra escuela, y también pudimos saludar a algunos de nuestros alumnos ¡Qué bien que pudiéramos vernos! Nos saludamos todos, y los alumnos españoles y polacos pudieron intercambiar algunas preguntas.

Right after we went to the 2nd grade classroom and we attended a class on good behaviour and road safety education. At this time we were preparing a videoconference connection between the two schools, Sp 46 and CEIP Carmen Conde. We had some small technical problems, but finally we could contact Mari Jose who showed our Polish friends some of our school, and we could also say hello to some of our students. It was wonderful to see them again! We greeted everyone, and the Spanish and Polish students were able to exchange a few questions.

  

Más tarde, comimos con Renata y el director Janusz, y aprovechamos para hacer las últimas preguntas sobre la educación en Polonia y el funcionamiento de su escuela, para que así no se nos olvidase contaros nada. Luego, pasamos un tiempo en la clase de los niños que estaban esperando a que les recogiesen sus padres, jugando con ellos a algunos juegos tradicionales polacos, al tiempo que aprovechamos para ver algunos de los libros de texto que utilizaban en sus clases.

Later, we had lunch with Renata and the Head teacher Janusz, and we took the opportunity to make the last questions on education in Poland and their school, so that we would not forget to tell you anything. Then we spent some time in the class of children who were waiting for their parents to collect them, playing with them some Polish traditional games, while we were able to see some of the textbooks used in their classes.

  

No queríamos terminar esta entrada sin despedirnos de nuestros amigos de la escuela Sp 46 de Czestochowa, agradeciéndoles todo lo que han hecho por nosotros durante esta semana. Los maestros nos han hecho sentir como en casa, siempre pendientes de nosotros y dispuestos a ayudarnos en todo lo que necesitábamos con una sonrisa. Y qué decir de los alumnos, en una escuela tan pequeñita, junto a los profesores eran todos como una gran familia. Su amabilidad, sus sonrisas, sus saludos en castellano y sus abrazos harán que siempre recordemos este viaje maravilloso. ¡Gracias a todos por esta inolvidable experiencia!

We did not want to finish this post without saying goodbye to our friends from the school Sp 46 of Czestochowa, thanking them for all they have done for us this week. Teachers have made us feel at home, always taking care of us and willing to help in everything we needed with a smile. And what about the students, in such a tiny school, together with the teachers they were all like a big family. Their kindness, their smiles, their greetings in Spanish and hugs will always help us to remember this wonderful journey. Thank you all for this unforgettable experience!

Quinto día en Polonia - Fifth day in Poland. 20/10/2016

En nuestro quinto día en Czestochowa, el director Janusz nos vino a recoger por la mañana al hotel para ir a visitar dos de los museos más representativos de la ciudad: el museo de pintura y el museo de la ciudad. En el primero pudimos disfrutar de algunos de los cuadros de los pintores polacos más importantes del siglo XIX y XX, mientras que en el museo de historia local nos dieron un recorrido por la historia de Czestochowa, desde los primeros asentamientos en el neolítico hasta la final independencia de la Unión Soviética.

On our fifth day in Czestochowa, the Head teacher Janusz came to pick us up in the morning to go to visit two of the most representative museums in the town: the paintings museum and the city museum. In the first we could enjoy some of the paintings of the most important Polish painters from the nineteenth and twentieth century, while in the local history museum we were given a tour around the history of Czestochowa, from the first settlements in the Neolithic period to the final independence from the Soviet Union.

   

Después fuimos a la escuela infantil Miejskie Przedszkole nr 29, cercana a la escuela Sp 46, y que recibe niños desde los 2-3 años hasta los 6 años. La escuela contaba con cuatro grupos, con alumnos de 3, 4, 5 y 6 años de edad. Nos encantó cómo tenian decoradas sus clases, y pudimos disfrutar de algunas de las canciones que estaban trabajando. También nos entregaron una sorpresita para nuestros alumnos del Carmen Conde. ¿Qué será?

Then we went to Infant Education school Miejskie Przedskole nr 29, near the school Sp 46, which receives children from 2-3 to 6 years old. The school had four groups, with students of 3, 4, 5 and 6 years old. We loved how they had decorated their classrooms, and we could enjoy some of the songs they were practising. They also gave us a surprise for our Carmen Conde students. What is it?

  
  

De la escuela infantil fuimos a la escuela Sp 46. Allí asistimos a una clase sobre primeros auxilios que los niños de 6º estaban dando a sus compañeros de 4º. Después, nos explicaron cómo funcionaban los programas de seguridad en Internet y convivencia y rechazo a la violencia que llevaban a cabo en la escuela.

From the Infant school we went to school Sp 46. There we attended a first aid class that the 6th graders were giving to their colleagues of 4th grade. Then, we were explained how the programmes about Internet security and coexistence and rejection of violence that take place at school worked.



Finalmente, Alex se atrevió a dar una clase en Inglés con varios de los alumnos de 1º, 2º y 3º que estaban esperando a que viniesen sus padres a recogerles. Jugamos a varios juegos para presentarnos, cantamos algunas canciones en inglés y jugamos al ahorcado. ¡Qué bien lo pasamos!

Finally, Alex dared to give an English lesson with several students of 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade who were waiting for their parents to pick them up. We played several games to introduce ourselves, sang some songs in English and played hangman. What a wonderful time we had!

  

Cuarto día en Polonia - Fourth day in Poland. 19/10/2016

Nuestro cuarto día en Czestochowa lo comenzamos como siempre, yendo por la mañana temprano a la escuela Sp 46. Allí asistimos a un concurso entre las clases de 4°, 5° y 6° sobre los acontecimientos más importantes de la historia de la ciudad. Los alumnos participantes eran muy aplicados, la competición estuvo muy reñida, pero finalmente ganó el grupo de 6° por muy pocos puntos.

Our fourth day in Czestochowa began as usual, going to school Sp 46 early in the morning. There we witnessed a contest between classes 4, 5 and 6 about the most important events in the history of the city.The participating students were very smart, so the competition was hard fought, but eventually the group of 6th graders won by very few points.

Luego fuimos a la clase de 5°, donde nos explicaron el programa educativo estatal "Mantente en forma", dada la importancia que aquí se le da a llevar un estilo de vida saludable y hacer ejercicio. Por los pasillos pudimos ver que habían colgado los regalos que les habíamos llevado.

Then we went to the class of 5th grade, where we were explained the state educational program "Keep fit", because of the importance that they give to keep a healthy lifestyle and do exercise. We could also see that they had hung the presents from our students in the corridors.

 

Después Sonia se animó a dar una clase de Educación Física con los alumnos de 6°. Decidió enseñarles algunos de los juegos con los que más disfrutan nuestros alumnos del Carmen Conde: congelado, pelota sentada, el pañuelo... Y al mismo tiempo aprovechamos para enseñarles los números y los colores en español. ¡Se lo pasaron genial!

Later, Sonia was encouraged to give a PE class with students of 6th grade. She decided to show them some of the games that Carmen Conde students enjoy the most: frozen, sitting ball, scarf... And at the same time we took the opportunity to teach numbers and colors in Spanish. They had a great time!

 

Tras una pausa para comer, nos reunimos de nuevo con el director Janusz y el profesor de Historia Michal para hablar sobre las actividades que estábamos realizando durante nuestra visita, y especialmente sobre las actividades conjuntas que podríamos desarrollar más adelante a lo largo del curso. ¡Qué emoción!

After the lunch break, we met again the Head teacher Janusz and the History teacher Michal to discuss the activities we were doing during our visit, and especially the activities that we could develop together later along the year. What a thrill!

  

Finalmente, por la tarde asistimos a una celebración muy especial. Hoy, los niños de 6 años que entran en el 1er curso de primaria celebraban su graduación, su presentación oficial como nuevos miembros de la escuela y la bienvenida por parte de los profesores y el resto de alumnos. Fue un acto muy solemne, que terminó con la ordenación de los niños como nuevos alumnos por parte del director Janusz. Después, papás, niños y profesores nos tomamos algo todos juntos.

Finally, in the afternoon we attended a very special celebration. Today, the children of 6 years old entering the 1st grade of primary education celebrated their graduation, an official presentation as new members of the school and the welcome from teachers and other students. It was a very solemn ceremony, which ended with the children being ordained as new students by the director Janusz. Then, parents, children and teachers had something together.

  

Tercer día en Polonia - Third day in Poland. 18/10/2016

Este martes ha sido nuestro segundo día en la escuela Sp 46 de Czestochowa. A primera hora nos llevaron al gimnasio, donde los alumnos de la escuela realizaron una representación de los distintos periodos de la historia de Polonia. ¡Iban super bien disfrazados, nos encantó cómo lo hacían!

This Tuesday was our second day at the school Sp 46 of Czestochowa. Early in the morning we were taken to the gym, where students from the school made a representation of the different periods of the history of Poland. Their costumes were really good, we loved how they did it!

Después fuimos a las clases de 2º. En la primera, los alumnos de 8 años habían traído alimentos de casa para elaborar todos juntos un desayuno saludable. ¡Tenía todo muy buena pinta! Luego pasamos a la otra clase, donde los niños de 7 años estaban preparando unas ricas brochetas de fruta. ¡Todo muy rico y sano!

Then we went to 2nd grade classrooms. In the first one, 8 years old students had brought food from home to make a healthy breakfast together. Everything looked very nice! Then we went to the other classroom, where 7 years old children were preparing some delicious fruit skewers. Everything  was delicious and healthy!

Más tarde, a las 11, nos preparamos para comer (sí, habéis leído bien, comimos a las 11.00). Algunas mamás del colegio habían preparado varios platos típicos polacos para los profesores del centro y para nosotros (sopa, unas empanadillas de queso, col fermentada, arenques, una ensaladilla rusa polaca, quesos, tarta...). Teníamos todavía el desayuno en el estómago, pero todo tenía muy buena pinta, así que no nos quedó más remedio que probar un poquito de todo. Y, efectivamente, estaba todo riquísimo.


Later, at 11 o'clock, we were prepared to have lunch (yes, you read that right, we had at 11.00). Some students' mums had prepared several typical Polish dishes for teachers at the school and for us (soup, cheese pasties, sauerkraut, herrings, Russian Polish salad, cheese, cake...). We still had breakfast in the stomach, but all looked very nice, so we had no choice but to try a little of everything. And indeed, it was all delicious.

Sobre las 13.00 nos fuimos con algunos profes de excursión en un minibus a un pueblo cercano, donde fuimos al taller de Osikowa Dolina donde realizaban artesanía con finas tiras de madera de álamo. Era todo precioso, y nos llevamos una gran sorpresa cuando nos invitaron a realizar nosotros mismos algunas manualidades. Hicimos un precioso árbol de navidad y decoramos una cestita con las tiras de madera de álamo. Quién sabe, quizás llevemos alguna sorpresita para el cole también ;)

About 13.00 we went with some teachers on a tour in a minibus to a nearby town, where we went to the Osikowa Dolina workshop where craftwork with thin strips of poplar wood were made. It was all beautiful, and we got a big surprise when we were invited to make some crafts ourselves. We did a beautiful Christmas tree and decorated a basket with strips of poplar wood. Who knows, maybe we could take a surprise for the school too ;)

Bueno, y ahora nos vamos a ver el partido entre el Real Madrid y el Legia Varsovia, el equipo de fútbol de la capital de Polonia, que está a solo 3 horitas de donde estamos. ¡Qué gane el mejor (esperemos que el Madrid)!

Well, now we're going to watch the game between Real Madrid and Legia Warsaw, the football team of the Polish capital, which is just 3 hours from where we are. May the best man win (hopefully Madrid)!

Segundo día en Polonia: Czestochowa - Second day in Poland: Czestochowa. 17/10/2016

Nuestro segundo día en Polonia transcurrió en Czestochowa, la ciudad donde se encuentra la escuela Sp 46. A primera hora Renata, la profesora de Inglés, nos vino a recoger a nuestro hotel para llevarnos a la escuela. La primera sorpresa que tuvimos nada más llegar fue que la bandera española estaba ondeando junto a la polaca sobre la puerta de la escuela. ¡Menuda bienvenida!

Our second day in Poland was spent in Czestochowa, the city where the school Sp 46 is located. Early in the morning Renata, the English teacher, came to pick us up at our hotel to take us to school. The first surprise we had when we arrived was that the Spanish flag was waving near the Polish above the door of the school. What a wonderful welcome!

Todos los profesores y alumnos de la escuela Sp 46 estaban esperándonos. Los alumnos (en total 103, muchos menos que en nuestro colegio) nos recibieron alegremente, saludándonos en español: ¡Hola! ¡Buenos días!, así que nos hicieron sentir como en casa. Nos hicieron pasar al gimnasio, que también funcionaba como salón de actos, donde nos esperaba un acto de bienvenida en el que algunos grupos de alumnos interpretaron varias danzas tradicionales polacas. ¡Bailaban fenomenal, y nos encantaron sus trajes! Posteriormente nos presentamos ante todos ellos, y les hicimos entrega de los regalos de parte del ayuntamiento de Leganés y aquellos que con tanto cariño los alumnos del CEIP Carmen Conde habían realizado. ¡Les gustaron muchísimo!

All the teachers and the students from Sp 46 school were waiting for us. The students (a total of 103, far fewer than in our school) greeted us cheerfully in Spanish: ¡Hola! ¡Buenos días!, so we felt at home. We went to the gym, which also functioned as a hall, where we were received with a welcoming ceremony in which some groups of students performed several traditional Polish dances. They danced beautifully, and we loved their costumes! Later we introduced ourselves to all of them, and gave them the gifts from Leganés town hall and those which so lovingly the students from CEIP Carmen Conde had made for them. They liked them very much!

   

Después de la bienvenida pasamos al despacho del director Janusz, donde nos explicaron el funcionamiento del sistema educativo en Polonia. Nosotros también les contamos las características generales del sistema educativo español, y estuvimos comparando ambos sistemas, señalando sus semejanzas y diferencias.

After the welcome we came into the headteacher Janusz' office, where we were explained how the educational system in Poland worked. We also told them the general characteristics of the Spanish educational system, and we were comparing both systems, noting their similarities and differences.

Más tarde, ya era hora de visitar el resto de la escuela. Nos enseñaron todas las clases, en las que los alumnos se encontraban trabajando, y pudimos ver cómo estaban decoradas y cómo se organizaban. También asistimos a una clase de 5º de Primaria sobre los animales, en la que los niños habían traído sus mascotas a clase (perros, gatos, conejos, peces...) y nos explicaron cómo eran y cómo las cuidaban. Todos los alumnos hablaron de sus mascotas en inglés, excepto uno que se atrevió a describir a su tortuga en español. ¡Qué bien lo hacía!

Later, it was time to visit the rest of the school. We were shown all classes in which students were working, and we could see how they were decorated and organised. We also attended a class on animals in Year 5, in which the children had brought their pets to class (dogs, cats, rabbits, fish ...) and explained how they were and how they were looked after. All students talked about their pets in English, except one who dared to describe his turtle in Spanish. How well he did!

       

Después ya era la hora de comer, sobre las 12.30, y pudimos disfrutar en la escuela de una riquísima sopa polaca de salchichas y patata. Luego salimos del colegio para visitar el ayuntamiento de Czestochowa, donde nos recibieron el alcalde y la concejal de educación. En su despacho estuvimos hablando sobre la oportunidad que se abría para conocer mejor la cultura de nuestros países, así como de la importancia del inglés como lengua de comunicación que permitiría una mayor interacción entre nuestros alumnos. Posteriormente nos hicieron entrega de unos detalles sobre la ciudad de Czestochowa, y a su vez nosotros les obsequiamos con un libro sobre los alcaldes de Leganés y la medalla del escudo de la ciudad de parte de nuestro ayuntamiento.

Then, at 12.30 it was lunchtime, and we could enjoy a tasty Polish sausages and potato soup at school. Then we left the school to visit the town hall of Czestochowa, where we were received by the mayor and the councillor of education. In his office we were talking about the opportunity to better understand the culture of our countries and the importance of English as the language of communication that allow greater interaction among our students. Later they gave us some details about the city of Czestochowa, and we offered them a book about the mayors of Leganés and a medal with the shield of the city from our city council.





Finalmente nos reunimos con varios profesores de la escuela Sp 46 para visitar uno de los lugares más emblemáticos de la ciudad: el monasterio y santuario Jasna Góra dedicado a la virgen negra de Czestochowa. Allí pudimos disfrutar de una visita turística que incluía la biblioteca antigua del monasterio, con infinidad de valiosísimos libros que databan de la edad media, la basílica y la capilla de la virgen negra, icono del santuario, y la sala del tesoro con infinidad de donativos en agradecimiento a la virgen. Verdaderamente, fue todo espectacular, nos quedamos especialmente maravillados con la valiosísima biblioteca y sus antiquísimos libros.

Finally we met several teachers from the Sp 46 school to visit one of the most emblematic places of the city: Jasna Góra monastery and sanctuary dedicated to the Black Madonna of Czestochowa. There we could enjoy a tour that included the monastery old library, with many valuable books dating from the Middle Ages, the Basilica and the Chapel of the Black Madonna, icon of the sanctuary, and the treasure with many donations in gratitude to the virgin. Indeed, everything was spectacular, we were especially amazed with its ancient library and valuable books.
